Fiberglass Installation Process

Preparation of the surface:

The pool surface is cleaned, scraped and a nitch is cut under the tile and around the light, drain and return fittings, then all these areas are filled with a fiberglass putty that is made from the same resin that the pool is to be laminated in. Then the surface receives a bond coat. Any cracks, rough areas or unevenness are all filled to make the surface as smooth as possible before bond coating. All these procedures ensure a water- tight seal and a good bond to allow for a long lasting pool.

Glassing the pool:

Henson’s use a fiberglass matt along with a corrosive resistant resin that is prepared specially for this application. A resin coat is applied then followed by the fiberglass then a second coat is applied. The fiberglass is then rolled out with special glass rollers to ensure the air is rolled out. The fiberglass then is allowed to dry.

Sand out and Detail:

The surface of the pool is then sanded and detailed for any imperfections from glass day. Markers and or pool art is incorporated into the pool at this time. A glaze coat is then applied.

Final Coat:

Henson’s Fiberglass has a special formulated surface coat (TOP COAT), which is applied, then a non-skid texture is placed on steps and walk-in areas.

Final Check:

On the final day the entire surface is checked for imperfections and water is added.
